100km. In 2 days. With a race across Loch Ness thrown in.
So who better to paddle with than the great Tim Bailey.
Together we bought an iconic tandem sea kayak – Floating Leaf – built in the 1960s, in stunning mahogany.

Setting off from Corpach (by Fort William), we launched our kayak on the epic waterway which takes you from West coast to East coast.
A mixture of flat canals, locks to portage and great big lochs (lakes) to paddle across, it’s a beautiful adventure. A light drizzle all day made it fresh and pleasant.

Fort Augustus at last!
This marked the half-way point for us – time to pitch the tent, get some sleep and prepare for…
MONSTER THE LOCH 2021!
A super fun (completely informal) event with everyone racing any old craft across Loch Ness.

No time to rest.
With the race finished we carried on to Inverness – a 2 hour paddle with sore arms and tired backs.
A truly memorable trip – and well done to Floating Leaf for completing another great journey.
